Meet Sr Hannah. She is one of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity from Manitowoc, Wisconsin, who just moved into the convent at St. Anne's in Chassell this summer.
"Hello Everyone, my name is Sister Hannah Johnecheck. I am originally from Petoskey, Michigan; not too far south of the Keweenaw. I entered the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity when I was 22 years old. I always believe that God calls through a simple desire to give ones self to Him and the service of His people in a very intense and total way. When I was in college that desire began to grow in me and only grew stronger. I knew I had to trust it was God pursuing me. I had the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity and some of my teachers in elementary school. I appreciated their simple and real faith. My mom was friends with some of the Sisters. My mom brought my family to the the Motherhouse in Wisconsin for a family vacation when I was 8 years. Ironic place for family vacation. God was mysteriously working!
As a Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity I have had the blessing of serving all over our country. I have served in Mississippi, Hawaii, Arizona and now Michigan. My ministry here in the Keweenaw will be at Sacred Heart School. I am delighted to be teaching First and Second Grade at such a lovely school. I am also excited to get to spend time with and to get to know the families and young adults of Saint Albert's and Saint Anne's Parish."
She is a few weeks into school already and enjoying Sacred Heart. So far in the Keweenaw, her favorite adventure has been visiting traveling to Brockridge Point with the other Sisters. She also noted really enjoying spending time with the young adults of Saint Alberts Parish. We are lucky and blessed to have her serving hear and look forward to getting to know Sister Hannah more.
