Kyle Hanson
FOCUS | Esto Vir, Diocese of Green Bay
Kyle (’12 Geological Engineering) Hanson has been serving as a FOCUS missionary for seven years, currently with the Diocese of Green Bay through Esto Vir (“Be a Man”), a men’s apostolate in the diocese.
When Kyle met his wife Lisa, she was serving as a FOCUS missionary. Once the couple was engaged, they began to talk about their life together after marriage. With Lisa’s prompting, Kyle attended an interview weekend and met men who were married with children and serving as missionaries.
“That tore down a wall down in my heart to discern. After praying it through, my life changed. I knew in that moment that the Lord was calling me to be a missionary and I could choose to say yes or no. I ended up saying yes and here I am seven years later.”
At St. Al’s, Kyle says he grew in his faith and wanted to share more about the Catholic faith with others. “I did not know how to share my faith without coming off awkwardly, so I ended up not sharing it. Students, especially men, in college need people to mentor and teach them how to share their faith in a way that is accessible to others.”
Kyle and his family recently returned to St. Al’s to spend the weekend with Fr. Ben Hasse. The couple took their three children on a five-hour canoe trip, “the biggest adventure the kids have ever been on.”
