When Cody Eby started asking questions about the meaning of life and how a person ought to live to be happy, he learned about the Catholic faith by watching Bishop Barron’s Word on Fire videos.
“The Bishop's work led me to rethink my own experience of Catholicism and my Confirmation,” he says. “I decided I needed to talk about all of these things. A friend recommended I speak with Fr. Dustin at St. Al’s. Since meeting with Fr. Dustin, I began to attend Mass for the first time in seven years, and I have been a part of St Al's since.”
Cody, who is a third year mechanical engineering student at Michigan Tech, says St. Al’s has given him a place to grow.
“A culture exists at St. Al's where everyone genuinely cares about each other.
My first time hanging around after Mass I approached a group of people, arranged in the staple St. Al's circle. As I came near, two guys introduced themselves to me and let me into the circle. Others stopped their conversation to ask my name and introduce themselves. I was so shocked by the kindness and hospitality that I have not encountered anywhere before. I have met and befriended many who strive for living lives of virtue by being at St Al's and that community has been one of the greatest gifts I have received.”
