This year’s RCIA program has seven people interested in the Catholic faith, with two of them joining us this past month. One young woman, who attends Mass with her boyfriend, was interested in RCIA but did not attend classes in the fall. One night she prayed and asked God to give her a sign that she should pursue the Catholic faith. The next morning, she received an email from me inviting her to RCIA. She now is enthusiastically watching and discussing Symbolon with me and coming to the regular sessions.
Recently, a young man came to me after Mass and asked if it was too late to join; he attended his first session 20 minutes later! His Philosophy of Religions class at MTU was the catalyst to inquire about the faith.
The involvement at St. Al's continues to grow. We started a Discernment Group on religious life for women this fall. Besides discussing the book Discerning Religious Life by Sr. Clare Matthiass, CFR, we scheduled two Come & See Weekends at the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in Manitowoc, WI – my Franciscan Motherhouse. Seventeen young women from St. Al's attended those weekends.
I enjoy assisting others in their faith journey. What a privilege to walk with them.
