3rd year Electrical Engineer MTU ECE department Shop Assistant and Research Assistant
Moira was an intern on campus this summer with lots of differnet projects.
"As a Shop Assistant, I help maintain the ECE department lab equipment by taking inventory and calibrating it. My Research Assistant position involves robotics, automation, and Lidar technologies to develop an autonomous rover that can map its surroundings and navigate difficult terrain."
She also had the oportunity to take a summer class in Bermuda. The three week course was on Research Diving Methods and taught at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences.
"The diving course in Bermuda was to earn my AAUS scientific scuba diving certification, as I hope to have a career in an aquatic engineering field."
She really enjoyed that she got to work with her hands in the ECE department because it was similar to what she might experience in a job setting after graduation.
With so many tasks to do it can be cahllenging to fit in time for prayer.
"I continue to live my faith by keeping my Sundays dedicated to some long overdue rest, keeping the endless list of ongoing projects to a minimum. I also try to check in with my friends from St. Al's, no matter how far they might have gone for the summer."
Back in the US now, we look forward to seeing Moira soon.
