Todd and Theresa Gross attended Mass at St. Al’s periodically as students while attending Michigan Tech in the 1980s, but the couple didn’t get involved in the ministry.

At St. Al's, there are a number of ways we seek to provide intellectual formation: talks at Friday Night Fireside Fellowship, our parish library (dedicated to St. John Henry Newman), abundant literature at the Church entrances, our FOCUS Bible Studies, and Sr. Jacqueline's Bible Classes. Recently, there has been an organic movement to explore philosophical topics in light of the faith led by students and Michigan Tech philosophy professor, Dr. Michael Bowler.

Given the need to restrict car pooling and indoor gatherings, this fall St. Al's has refocused on outdoor events close to town. A recent Friday Night Fireside Fellowship included Mass, Little Caesar's pizza served outside and a "Sunset Cruise" along the Portage in canoes. Your regular support makes these kinds of adaptations possible.
As you can well-imagine, the pandemic has somewhat slowed progress on St. Al’s Multiply the Mission Campaign in recent months. It’s certainly not something we had in the plan! Nonetheless, it is amazing that we are already homing in on the $2 million mark for pledges to the campaign. A big thank you to everyone who has already made a gift!
