Serving is a part of our faith. Here are some concrete opportunities to serve the people around you.
St. Al's service group
The service group reaches out to the community in many ways. See what they are up to here. There is not a leader for this group at more time so for more information contact Fr Ben (benjhasse@yahoo.com).
Solemn Brunch
These grand and glorious brunches occur after the 11am mass. Do you want to share your culinary skills to prepare a grand feast for the community? Ladd Stanton (lostanto@mtu.edu) is the new Brunch Master (the person who organizes all the brunchkins and food prep). Contact Ladd for more info.
Respect for Life
Students for Life is a non-partisan & nonsectarian organization, and the local chapter is a distinct student org. They support the Life Outreach Center, organize events on campus, and strive to build resources and a community of life in our school. Please contact the president is Katie Heusser (ktheusse@mtu.edu) with any questions and to get involved.
Knights of Columbus Council #17237
The Knights of Columbus (K of C) is a global Catholic fraternal service order founded in 1882 for practicing Catholic men. The St. Al's chapter serves the local communities as well as students. Contact the Grand Knight Daniel Ryan (dmryan1@mtu.edu) for more information.
Spring Break Mission Trip
During MTU's spring break a group of students travel to Father Carr's Place 2B in Oshkosh, WI for a week of service. This center is a housing shelter, food bank, free clinic, chapel, and enrichment center for those in need. We are able to help them finish long term projects, matinence, and serving the poor. Join us this year to be filled with the joy of serving others as well as being in a fun community for a week trip. This years spring break is Saturday, March 04 to Sunday, March 12, 2023. There is not currently a leader of this group so please contact Fr Ben (benjhasse@yahoo.com) for more information or to sign-up.
Pastoral Council
The pastoral council is an elected group who advises the priest about parish matters. They reflect on issues that arise, bring new information to light, and plan/facilitate many events. Students serve for 1 or 2 years and elections happen in the spring. If you have event ideas, see a ministry in need of support, or want to run for next years council contact one of the student members.
